What is Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy is a healthcare profession that helps people improve their movement and manage their pain. Physical Therapists use their knowledge and skills to help restore, maintain, and promote optimal physical function to those with physical ailments. Although most clients seek out Physical Therapy after an injury or chronic pain, our therapists can also help achieve fitness goals and even just maintain a healthy lifestyle and improve overall well being.
What is a Physical Therapist?
Physical therapists are highly-educated professionals who help people of all ages who have physical impairments through therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and education. They specialize in movement and body mechanics, which allows them to help people with injuries, disabilities, or chronic conditions improve their quality of life. In order to practice physical therapy, one must first obtain a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from an accredited program. All of our well-educated physical therapists at Keystone Physical Therapy have earned their doctorate in Physical Therapy, or are currently pursuing their doctorate. Because of this, you know you are getting the right care when it comes to your health.
What Does a PT Do?
Physical therapists help people manage pain and improve movement. Our physical therapists examine each client and develop a treatment plan that addresses the individual’s specific needs. This may include therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and education on how to prevent future injuries. Our PTs also use treatments such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and cold/hot packs to help reduce pain and inflammation.
