What is Dry Needling?

Dry Needling is a procedure that can be performed by a trained Physical Therapist. The procedure involves the use of a solid monofilament needle that is inserted into a muscle with the intent of releasing a "trigger point” within the muscle. Dry needling can decrease pain, improve movement and restore function.
Trigger points are small areas within a muscle that can cause pain directly at the site or radiate to other areas of the body. Dry Needling targets these areas to release the muscle and restore normal function. This technique is a more direct and more aggressive method to treat muscular pain that may be stubborn to other forms of treatment.
If you have pain that may be caused by a trigger point in a muscle, dry needling could be a very helpful treatment for you. Dry Needling can also be helpful for stiffness, soreness, and headaches. If you have persistent pain or nagging headaches, dry needling could be a beneficial treatment for you.
With Dry Needling, you can be assured your problem area is targeted and treated with precision. This will help with muscle recovery and gaining a better range of motion.
