Choosing the Right Physical Therapist for You

Updated: Apr 12, 2022

Choosing the right physical therapist isn’t always an easy task, but it is an important one to ensure you are getting the best quality care.

When decided where to go for your treatment, it is important to ask the following questions:

What are your credentials? To practice as a physical therapist in the United States, a doctor of physical therapy, also known as DPT, is required. Therapists must also become certified for different treatments, such as dry needling or cupping. Double check your Physical Therapist’s credentials before deciding where to go for treatments.

How long have you been practicing?

Physical therapists require an intensive amount of schooling to become certified to practice, so you know all will be efficient in their treatments. However, the longer they practice, the more they see! With more experience comes more knowledge in creative ways of treating certain ailments.

What does my path to recovery look like?

An experienced physical therapist will create a plan with you that will result in the most efficient path to your ultimate recovery. As always, these plans are a work in progress and may change over the course of your treatments. Make sure to go over your treatment plan with your therapist to ensure you are comfortable with all steps in your recovery.
